BIOGRAPHY
Former Assistant Professor of Trumpet and Jazz at Missouri Southern State University. Freddie is currently the Director of Instrumental Music at Academy of the Holy Names, in Tampa, FL and the Artistic Director for Music Remembrance. Freddie takes pride in preparing students for the current demands of teaching and performing the musical arts.
A native of Orlando, Florida, Freddie Green holds degrees and certifications from Rollins College, University of Florida, and Indiana University with concentrations in trumpet performance, music education, and fundraising management. While in Florida, Freddie performed with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra (Jacksonville, FL), Walt Disney World Orchestra (Orlando, FL), Bach Festival Society Orchestra (Winter Park, FL), Space Coast Symphony, Central Florida Civic Orchestra (Villages, FL), in addition to performing with the jazz legend Sam Rivers. International performing credits include performing on the first Chinese tour of “Chicago” the musical.
Freddie is a big supporter of new music, commissioning and premiered several new works for trumpet. He is a founding member of the trumpet and flute duo “ScreamOcity”. As an active clinician and performer, he focuses on the personal and spiritual aspects of performing arts. He is an active member of the International Trumpet Guild, Jazz Educators Network, National Association of Music Educators, and is currently on the board of Pro Musica Joplin.
Previous appointments include Missouri Southern State University, Freddie served as Fine Arts Director and Director of Bands at Faith Christian Academy in Orlando, FL.
Primary teachers include Marie Speziale, Rob Smith, Joyce Davis, Joe Montelione, Chris Dolske, Sam Zambito, and Billy Prewitt. Additional teachers include Rob Smith, Bill Bing, and Mario Guarneri.
